No issues were closed during July 2009.
No new issues were initiated during July 2009.
Automatic Online Submission of Arkivoc Manuscripts Commences as of Monday, August 3rd, 2009.

Please see new instructions for authors for preparation of manuscripts at http://www.arkat-usa.org/arkivoc-journal/instructions-papers/ which should be used for manuscripts for automatic submissions. All authors are urged to use the automatic submission procedure which we have tried to make as simple and efficient as possible by logging on at https://www.arkat-usa.org/arkivoc-journal/online-submission/.
You may continue to submit manuscripts by the old electronic mail method, but if received by this method manuscripts will be diverted into the standard automatic submission procedure. We hope to do this seamlessly so authors will not notice any major changes. The main difference will be that manuscripts will now pass through the hands of a technical editor who will return the manuscripts to the author if the technical editor feels that the instructions for authors have not been followed closely or if information requested of authors has not been included. Authors of such papers will be asked to attend to these deficiencies and resubmit using the online automatic submission procedure.
We believe that the new procedure will speed up the processing of manuscripts and help both the technical and scientific editors. The refereeing procedure will remain the same and we expect the new system to be considerably more efficient than the old one.

Flohet 11 to take place at University of Florida Gainesville March 7-10, 2010. Registration is now open.

The 10th Annual Florida Heterocyclic and Synthetic Conference (FloHet-10) took place at the University of Florida in Gainesville, March 8 -11. There were 11 plenary lectures, 34 invited lectures, 48 posters, 5 courses, a careers workshop, and 14 exhibitors.

Some comments from those who attended:

  • My first time at FloHet, and I was impressed by both the scientific standard and organization.
  • It is on our list of conferences that we plan to have people attend.
  • I will certainly attend FloHet again in the next couple of years.
  • The short course that I attended was excellent, and I applied information I learned there at work the following week.
  • The presentations and scientific conversations at meals were excellent.
  • This conference gives a very broad overview of recent advances in medicinal chemistry, natural product synthesis, catalysis and materials sciences and there were really stimulating discussions.
  • I believe it is a valuable conference with a great venue.
  • I really enjoyed the conference and I am looking forward to attending again next year.
We are most grateful for the generous support of our sponsors, exhibitors, and advertisers – AlfaAesar, Bristol-Myers Squibb, CEM, ChemBridge Corporation, Eli Lilly & Company, Elsevier, Georg Thieme Verlag KG, IUPAC, MolCode, Oakwood Products, Royal Society of Chemistry, SigmaAldrich, Strem, Synthonix, Wiley, and The Alachua County Visitors and Convention Bureau.
